Homeschool Field Trip Journal Pages

July 12, 2026 | 9 Comments

I have been wanting to create some homeschool field trip journal pages for a while but have been hesitant to create them. Also, look at my page Diy Best Student Planner and grab other gorgeous planning pages on my Homeschool Planner and 7 Step Curriculum Planner pages.

Writing for some kids is something you have to sneak in. So I have been mulling over even the smallest detail about the forms.

Homeschool Field Trip Journal Pages

For the field trip pages, that meant I brainstormed the title of the pages a bit longer.

I just couldn’t bring myself to name the pages Field Trip Report because it sounds so — well — like a report.  My sons enjoy writing for the most part and I want to keep it that way.

Finally, I settled on the title Field Trip Journals because I think there is freedom in the word journal for a budding writer.

It almost feels like you are not going to squash their creative ideas before they get started.

I appreciate some breathing room when I write, and I extend that same liberty to my kids.

Instead of my sons reporting back to me, I prefer they want to write about our field trips. Too, I wanted to use a more whimsical form so our kids could feel like they own it.

I have created some boxes for them to write in and then created a few smaller blank spaces if they wanted to share one or two more ideas.

Some kids are word whisperers, and I was sort of that way growing up.

Jotting down a word or two that I heard lately either gave me a chuckle or invoked a serious side.

If you have older kids, they may love some of these tools. Even young ones too want to be organized.

TEEN IDEAS FUN ORGANIZING TOOLS

And did I mention it keeps your teen offline and off their device and get back to basics by handwriting.

The most recent word my kids are getting a chuckle over is come-uppings.  Is that even a word?  I used it one time in talking to them and they haven’t quit saying it since then.  I don’t care if it’s a word or not because it gives them a cause to pause in the day about their vocabulary and a love of words.

Field Trip Journal 1

Then we have kids, I have one too, that is a doodler, a scribbler and part designer.

Picture words remind him of an event. The blank space is big enough for a scribble or two even by big kids.

So the blank spaces allows your kids and mine to make the page their own. Too, I didn’t want the pages too babyish so they don’t outgrow them by Kindergarten.

I have 2 pages that have more manly man color. My boys have low tolerance for anything too colorful and I try to minimize the eye-rolling.

Then of course on the ones for girls, I go girl color crazy. I have 2 color choices for them also.

Hopefully, these forms will help get your kids excited because you know how much our kids enjoy field trips with other homeschooled kids or just with the family.

It has always been the highlight of our month.

Do you feel the spark? I hope this sparks a fun and whimsical side to writing for the kids because I think I give my boys enough reports to write about.

Creative and DIY Free Homeschool Student Planner for Time Management

You’ll love tons of creative options with this free homeschool student planner. It’s just one of the many homeschool planners I have for you.

Today, I have the diy free homeschool student planner which you create.

Your child will love picking and choose from the forms to create a unique student planner.

Creative and DIY Free Homeschool Student Planner for Time Management

Besides, helping your student to track his lesson plans, a planner also encourages your child to be time conscious.

We know how important it is for our homeschooling day to be relaxed.

However, equally important is the art of time management. Managing time should not a stressful task.

It’s simply means allowing time to balance the day with what is meaningful to our family.

Children need to learn that too.

3 Ways a Homeschool Student Planner Encourages Time Management

Here are three ways a planner can encourage your child to manage his time.

1. It allows your child to choose which subject to cover first and in what order.

When your child orders the subjects or topics he wants to learn, he truly is learning how to self-educate.

For example, kids can be resistant to learning. I’ve learned through my 20+ years that choices matter – by your child.

They want some control to their day.

2. Failure is the BEST teacher.

For instance, if my child does not do what is required of him for the school day because he chose ;poorly how to manage the order in which the subjects are to be covered, it’s a valuable lesson.

Not only does he learn about managing his time for school subjects, but he is learning how to manage his time as an adult.

This is the foundation of how to start learning time management.

I don’t feel failure is a time of punishment but of education and experiment.

Of course it’s one thing for a child to be blowing off the day and another thing to learn how to manage.

You as the mom know if the child’s attitude was a lax one where discipline may be needed or if it truly was a failed attempt to manage his time.

As moms, we are constantly trying to find schedules and routines to suit us until we find something that is “doable”.

Your child should be allowed to do this while at home where he is learning independence and time management.

3. Decide if a timer is stress inducing or a time teacher.

Next, like all tools, they can have a negative or positive effect. A timer is no different.

Some kids respond well to a timer and others feel they’re in a race.

The goal in time management is to be learning to maximize the quality of time not focus on the passing of time.

Additionally, one of my lesson planning pages allows your child to track in 15 minute increments.

Some states require this type of tracking.

However, if your state does not, it still teaches your child the value of learning in short spurts.

Planning homeschool and holidays is easier with this updated reference page I do each year.

Too, I created this handy reference page because everybody plans differently and having a heads up notice of holidays and observances helps you plan not only your homeschool day, but to plan your year.

Planning Homeschool and Holidays

Also, this 5 years of major holidays on one reference page I have for you today gives you much flexibility when preparing your 7 Step DIY Homeschool Planner.

Free Form for Planning Homeschool and Holidays 2021-2025

  • By looking this far out, it helps me to decide when I want to take a family vacation.

But these forms are used to help you plan not just your homeschool year, but vacations and days off of your school year.

Also, my form can be used beyond planning homeschool and holidays.

It can be used in my diy easy home management binder, diy best student planner, and unit study planner.

Curriculum Pages for Planner

Free 2018-2019 Year Round Homeschool Planning Form (Tropical Breeze Color)

September 10, 2017 | 3 Comments
This post may contain affiliate links. For more information, please see my full disclosure policy.

You can never plan too early, right? And I love when I can get homeschool planning forms to you early. I have the first color choice for the 2018 to 2019 Year Round Homeschool Planning form and I named this color scheme Tropical Breeze.

Remember that I create both academic and planing calendars. Though they may seem similar they are not.

When you take a closer look, you’ll see they each calendar has a different purpose. The form today is for you to PLAN your school year and track the number of days and weeks your kids are doing school.

I have all 12 months on one page which means you can start on any month that you begin homeschooling and move forward to plan your year.

Free 2018 to 2019 Homeschool Planning Schedule. Grab your copy today because it's never too early to begin homeschool planning. Click here!

Plain calendars (okay, they are not so plain) are just for noting dates and for your reference. I don’t create them to write appointments on them OR to track your school.

Free Curriculum Planner Pages

Plain calendars are always on Step. 2. Choose Calendars/Appointment Keepers. The 2 page spread appointment keepers are for appointments and have more room for writing.

The form today is to plan your homeschool year with days off, teacher planning days and holidays to take off. It gives you a glimpse of your homeschool year. Plan and track your school year on it.

Because this form is not a calendar but more of a planning tool, I keep it each year at Step 5a. Choose Unique forms JUST for You!

If you need to see how to use it go to that step Step 5a. Choose Unique forms JUST for You! to look at my sample copy.

This form today is NOT the 2 page spread calendar. You can grab that too. Look at a picture below of a 2 page spread calendar, which gives you room to write appointments.

step-2-of-the-7-step-free-homeschool-planner-tinas-dynamic-homeschool-plus

If you’re looking for the 2 page per month calendars to write down your appointment, then grab this smokin’ hot color choice of tide pool.

or choose the royal color scheme
