Whether you want to keep history hands-on, are wanting to hook your children on history or you have a budding history buff, here are some ideas for gifts for kids who are wild about history.

Gifts for Kids Who Are Wild About History | Tina's Dynamic Homeschool Plus

1. BrainBox for Kids – World History Card Game

Though we don’t play the 10 minute version and changed this game around a bit, this is a great way to add to your history program or just to include all ages.

How many details can you remember?

2. Greeks (Ancient Civilisations Pop-Ups) A pop up book for the big kids too. With all the intricate detail, this will keep your child entertained for hours.

And though we don’t have this book, The Pompeii Pop Up, it is one we want.

3. Time For Kids: Benjamin Franklin: A Man of Many Talents (Time for Kids Biographies)

This is another series of books that has kept my boys loving history because the focus is on understanding some of the great minds behind history and not boring dates.
There are many to choose from too.

4. Educational Trivia Card Game – Professor Noggin’s Ancient Civilizations

This series of trivia card game has bailed me out on more than one occasion when our time spent doing history was going flat. Though it says it is for 7 years of age and up, we used our games for much longer.

Can you really know all there is to know about history? Check out the other games on history too.

5. Horrible Histories Special: Cruel Kings and Mean Queens If you want to capture your child’s love for history by laughter, he may like this series of books.

6. And don’t forget, history is all about studying fashion of a time period too. Check out the Project Runway History of Fashion Workbook. Your girls might love it.

And for goodness sakes if you ever get to get your hands on a history treasure chest (swoon), new OR used (in good condition) made by Running Press many years ago,  it is the best money I ever spent on feeding my boys’ love of history.

I do believe (blush) we have every history treasure chest they made.

Hugs and love ya,

Signature T

Day 8. High School Graduation Gift Ideas. 10 days of Planning A Homeschool High School Graduation

Day 8 Gift Ideas for Homeschool Seniors @ Tinas Dynamic Homeschool Plus

I love thinking up gift ideas for a high school graduate, but sometimes it is not so easy.  I believe in ideas that fit a variety of budgets.

Too, sometimes it depends on your relationship to the graduate and his or her personality too.  My boys are more close to those that have been in our homeschool group that they see on a regular basis than even some of their cousins.

Whatever the budget, I know I was asked quite a bit what Mr. Senior 2013 wanted and it can be quite awkward to answer, but people really want to know.

High School Graduation Gift Ideas

Our close friends know that he likes things like classical music, techie things (don’t most kids) and loves books.   So I decided to make a list with both inexpensive, but thoughtful gifts and ones that cost a bit more if you are closer to the graduate.

Day 8. Highschool Graduation Gifts @ Tina's Dynamic Homeschool Plus

1. iPad Cover – Cool!  I think most graduates by now, crazy how times changed, either have an iPad or laptop.  If they don’t have one, they probably are getting one for graduation.  So a thoughtful idea is to get one or two of those cool looking covers for it.

2. Earphones Whether its just ear buds, or the full set, my boys never have enough of them and they come in a variety of colors and prices.

3. Beats Headphone Mr. Senior 2013 got the red set of these elite headphones from his uncle.  He had been swooning over them for a while.  So it makes a great gift for either boy or girl because they come in a lot of colors.

4.  Amazon Gift Card by E-mail  You can never ever go wrong with a gift certificate.  What I like about the ones you email is that no gift wrapping is involved, just email and it’s done.

5.Small but Useful Colorful 2in1 Wall Charger Adapter   I think a pretty and colorful wall charger adapter along with some ear buds and even an iPad cover make great ideas for a graduate bag stuffer.  Really the ideas are endless depending on the graduate’s likes and dislikes.  If he or she likes arts, throw in some art supplies too.

6. Travel Bag – For An On The Go Graduate  My sister got Mr. Senior 2013 a beautiful leather back pack.  She knew we were moving to South America, plus he will be doing some traveling to New York to work on a volunteer building project.  Now,  he has a beautiful leather bag to take with him.

I think this always makes the best practical gift whether the graduate is going to college or traveling, they will need something like this.

7. iPod  Mr. Senior 2013 got this from one of my dearest friends and uses it everyday.  He didn’t have one because he had spent his money on his car.  So don’t assume seniors have some of these things.  He loves his iPod.

8. Love this. Q and A a Day: 5-Year Journal  I fell in love with this gift and have been eyeballing it for the next gift when something comes up.  It is a 5 year journal.

5 Year journal @ Tina's Dynamic Homeschool Plus

But it is so cool because all 5 years are on the same page.  You can reflect back and see what has been going on the last 5 years.  Isn’t that so cool?  Just enough lines to write without being too exhaustive to maintain.  This would be good for the writer too or for your kids first few years away from you.

I think of course one of the best gifts are a few Andrew Jacksons.  Any kid would love a few extra 20 dollar bills.

But the best gifts have to be from grandma and grandpa.  You know I told you Mr. Senior 2013 didn’t want a graduation ring, so my parents just got him a regular, but beautiful gold ring.

One that he truly will use throughout his life and not take off later or put in the bottom of his drawer.  I love that idea.

Did you get some ideas for when the time comes to buy a high school graduation gift? What do you normally buy?

Hugs and love ya,

Gift Ideas for the New Homeschool Mom @ Tina's Dynamic Homeschool Plus -1-1

What can you get a new homeschool mom to make her first year memorable?

(pssst…do you have some of these things?)

1.  Rolling Cart Luv I have 3 of these things. Once you get past baby strollers and no longer have a baby as an excuse for using your stroller, these are sweet. I leave mine in the car if the convention has a book room to store my books. Then I roll it in afterwards and carry out all my loot. Some people like to just wheel it around behind them as they visit each booth.

2. Washi Tape Luv  I can’t imagine starting to plan and organize without it, but some new homeschoolers do. (okay okay). Probably not a must, but it is a must-have to keep all planners pretty and organized.

3. Sharpie Luv  For writing down sight words to labeling, all moms love these things. You can’t go wrong with a set of these in those pretty pastel colors.

4. Fitness Curriculum. I think a lot of us, including myself, still find it hard to fit exercising in for the day. It is a must, so this encourages good habits by taking time for mom from the beginning.

5. 101 Top Picks for Homeschool Curriculum The reference for new and seasoned homeschoolers alike.

6. I Homeschool because I have seen the village T-Shirt    If she has a love for t-shirts, she’ll love this one.

7. Amazon Gift Card Luv Oh the things we could buy as a new homeschool mom. Do I need to say anything more?

8. Currclick What she really wants is more curriculum. Feed her curriculum feddish with a gift card from Currclick. Somehow using that instead of buying it herself she finds a way to purchase something fun she may not have bought otherwise.

9.   Some days are just chocolate covered cherry days. One of my very favorite chocolates is with the ooey- gooey cherry filling and even chocolate covered cherries. Some days she will just need chocolate because nothing else will do.

10. Staedtler Pens for Planner Luv My newest obsession at the moment for writing in my planners.

11. Buy A Workshop. After giving her the link to our free new homeschoolers workshop, buy her one workshop for a topic you know she struggles with.

12. Ultimate Unit Study Planner. If she is a lover of printable planners, she will love this.

13. Banderole Pencil Luv Matter of fact, making one gift basket with the sharpies, washi tape, pens and pencils in it and anything else pretty you find, would make a great gift for a new homeschool mom.

14. Stylus Set Luv These are just great to have around for everybody and their devices.  Maybe if you get a set of them, she can fine just one when she needs it.

15.  Then the ultimate gift for a new homeschool mom has to be a registration to the upcoming Great Homeschool Convention.

I am so giddy because the details have been finalized for the convention to be in Forth Worth, Texas for 2015. Though I will likely be moved by then, I can plan way ahead of time to be in the country by then for this upscale homeschool convention.

What do you think? Can you think of any more gift ideas for a new homeschool mom?
