But not only are we going to make a beautiful piece of art, we are going to embark on a journey through the night sky,

I have lots of great information to share with you as well as.

How to Create A Stunning Night Sky Paper Roll Display

Too, I have a few resources.

Add them to your night sky study and make it a fascinating launch into all things space (from our view here on earth).

As you step outside on a clear night, the first thing you’ll notice is the multitude of stars twinkling above you.

Some stars, like our own Sun, shine with a steady golden light.

Others may appear red, blue, or even green due to their different temperatures and compositions.

If you look out past the stars, you will encounter the planets.

Some of the planets in our solar system that you can sometimes view with the naked eye include Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn.

And occasionally you can view Uranus if you have sharp eyes.

Books About the Moon For Kids

First, look at some of these fun books about the moon.

Add them to you home library and read aloud to your kids as they do this fun craft.

12 Resources and Books For Studying About the Moon and Galileo

1. Who Was Galileo?

Like Michelangelo, Galileo is another Renaissance great known just by his first name--a name that is synonymous with scientific achievement. Born in Pisa, Italy, in the sixteenth century, Galileo contributed to the era's great rebirth of knowledge. He invented a telescope to observe the heavens. From there, not even the sky was the limit!

3. Galileo and the Magic Numbers

Sixteenth century Italy produced a genius who marked the world with his studies and hypotheses about mathematical, physical and astronomical truths. His father, musician Vincenzio Galilei said, “Truth is not found behind a man’s reputation. Truth appears only when the answers to questions are searched out by a free mind. This is not the easy path in life but it is the most rewarding.” Galileo challenged divine law and the physics of Aristotle, and questioned everything in search of truths. And it was through this quest for truth that he was able to establish a structure for modern science.

8. Galileo Galilei (Genius Series)

Astronomer, physicist, and philosopher Galileo Galilei was referred to as "The Father of Modern Science," because of his groundbreaking research. Making observations about nature, and using mathematics to back them up, he proved the Copernican Theory true: the Sun, not the Earth, is the center of the universe. Join Galileo on his pioneering journey to see why his work had such long-lasting implications, and why the Catholic Church even condemned him for heresy.

9. What the Moon is Like

Imagine that you're walking on the moon. What is it like? For thousands of years people looked up at the moon and wondered about it. Now we know what the moon is like. There is no air on the moon and nothing grows, but there are towering mountains and deep craters—and much more.

Colder than the desert, the hotter than the desert, the moon is an amazing place to explore.

10. A Kite for Moon

What would it be like if the moon was your friend? Find out as you walk alongside a little boy who journeys through life to achieve his dream of becoming an astronaut. And then blast off with your little one as you zoom to the moon together!

The story begins when a little boy, who is flying his kite, notices a sad Moon. He sends up kites to her, writing notes promising he will come see her someday. This promise propels him through years of studying, learning, and training to become an astronaut. Until … he finally goes up, up, up in a big rocket ship with a fiery tail.

These two will stick together forever. With characteristic humor and charm, Stacy McAnulty channels the voice of Moon in this next celestial "autobiography" in the Our Universe series. Rich with kid-friendly facts and beautifully brought to life by Stevie Lewis, this is an equally charming and irresistible companion to Earth! My First 4.54 Billion Years and Sun! One in a Billion.

Exploring the Night Sky

Each planet has its own distinct characteristics.

For example, the rings of Saturn, the Great Red Spot on Jupiter, or the methane haze surrounding Neptune, make them fun and easy to recreate.

In the sky we see vast collections of stars, gas, and dust held together by gravity.

Our own Milky Way galaxy is a spiral galaxy, with a bright center surrounded by spiral arms that stretch across the sky.

Other galaxies, such as the Andromeda Galaxy, are visible to the naked eye on dark nights.

Nebulae, ethereal clouds of gas and dust, are another captivating sight in the night sky.

Some nebulae, like the Orion Nebula, are so bright and colorful that they can be seen with the naked eye.

Other nebulae, such as the Horsehead Nebula, require a telescope to reveal their intricate shapes and glowing tendrils.

In addition to these amazing sights, we can view meteor showers, which are caused by debris from comets or asteroids entering Earth’s atmosphere.

They can produce streaks of light across the sky.

Eclipses, which occur when the Moon passes between the Earth and the Sun (solar eclipse) or the Earth passes between the Moon and the Sun (lunar eclipse).

Exploring the night sky is not only a fun and educational activity but also a profound experience.

It reminds us of our place in the vastness of the universe and inspires us to dream and wonder about the mysteries that lie beyond our reach.

So, next time you find yourself under a clear night sky, take a moment to appreciate the beauty and wonder of the cosmos that surrounds us.

How to Create A Stunning Night Sky Paper Roll Display

To bring that beauty a little closer we are going to create a project to model the night sky with any and all of these sights that you want to include.

Imagine you are standing in your backyard or better yet a big field with no streetlights to dim your view.

What would you see if you looked up? What would you like to be able to see? We are going to create that view on paper.

How to Create A Stunning Night Sky Paper Roll Display

Finally, look at how to make a fun night sky paper roll.

Night Sky Paper Roll Display

The wonderful thing about this project is that it is adaptable for kids of all ages and abilities from the scribbling 2-year-old to the artistic 16-year-old.

You will need:

  • Black paper roll
  • Craft paint
  • Paint pens
  • Paintbrushes
  • Old toothbrush
  • Various sized lids
How to Create A Stunning Night Sky Paper Roll Display

For this craft you want to cover your work surface well.

A disposable tablecloth from Dollar Tree works great for protection of your table and for easy clean up.

Once your work surface is protected, roll out a piece of black paper however long you would like it to be.

A good 2’ gives you plenty of space for your night sky.

How to Create A Stunning Night Sky Paper Roll Display

Gather supplies-paint, a variety of paintbrushes, and several sizes of lids or a circle stamp.

How to Create A Stunning Night Sky Paper Roll Display

Start by painting a big round moon where you would like it to be on your paper.

Night Sky Paper Craft

Use your fingers, brushes, or sponges to lay the paint on thick and create texture so it appears to have craters.

How to Create A Stunning Night Sky Paper Roll Display

Next, we are going to use paintbrushes, or a toothbrush works wonderfully to create stars all over our night sky.

Load either one up with paint and then tap against your hand to create a splatter.

Continue moving to cover the page with various sized splatters.

How to Create A Stunning Night Sky Paper Roll Display

When you are satisfied with your stars it’s time to create whatever planets you would like.

To do this and give variations to the colors put paint in 2-3 shades on your plastic or a paper plate and stamp a lid into it

How to Create A Stunning Night Sky Paper Roll Display

Transfer to the paper and stamp firmly onto it.

How to Create A Stunning Night Sky Paper Roll Display

You can also paint directly onto the lid like I did here with ‘Mercury’ and then stamp it on the paper.

How to Create A Stunning Night Sky Paper Roll Display

To make some planets appear closer use larger lids and for those farther away use smaller ones.

Create star clusters or the milky way by splattering paint closer together or using loose bristled brushes.

How to Create A Stunning Night Sky Paper Roll Display

By this point your light spatters will probably be mostly dry but the thicker planets may still be wet.

How to Create A Stunning Night Sky Paper Roll Display

Once everything is dry you can go back in with paint markers or a small, tipped paintbrush.

How to Create A Stunning Night Sky Paper Roll Display

Add more defined shapes and details like Saturn’s rings.

Hang it up and admire your handiwork night or day.

Today, I have the printable 2025 two page monthly calendar. Grab other gorgeous planning pages on my Homeschool Planner page.

The two-page spread today is for keeping appointments for any of your family’s needs whether it’s personal or homeschool.

Also, this calendar can be used in other planners.

For example, my home management binder, student planner, blogging planner, financial planner, or fitness planner.

Beautiful and Colorful Physical Year 2025 Two Page Monthly Calendar

In addition, the calendars were designed with larger boxes.

My copyright allows you to print it as many times as you need it for your needs.

The calendar is in a gorgeous pastel color option this year.

You get a full 12 months, and the calendar begins January, 2025 and goes through December, 2025.

5 Benefits of a Two Page Monthly Calendar

  1. With more space for each day, you can include all homeschool activities and family appointments.
  2. This type of calendar gives you a clear overview at a glance of what is planned.
  3. This calendar can be placed anywhere in your planner so you customize where you prefer to jot down dates. I prefer mine right in the front, but some homeschool educators prefer to add it to a middle section.
  4. Another reason I love a printed calendar for the year is it helps me to maintain focus. Getting appointments down with pen on paper gives you a structured but not rigid framework.
  5. And one more thing I love is that the uncluttered view keeps the view minimalist.
Beautiful and Colorful Physical Year 2025 Two Page Monthly Calendar

Next, look at these other calendars I prepare.

You want one of each type in your planner.

3 Different Types of Homeschool Calendars Needed

Because I create 3 different types of calendars each year, here are the differences in each type of calendar.

1.The Appointment Keeper Calendar

The appointment keeper calendar is the one I have today.

It is your main calendar. ALL appointments are penned on this calendar.

Whether field trip, family time or personal time, you want to jot them all down on this calendar which has ample room for appointments.

2. Planning Your Schedule Calendar

This calendar is NOT for planning. (wink) I have the planning your schedule calendars for that.

They are kept on Step 5a. Choose Unique forms JUST for You!

3. Regular Calendar On One Page

And I also have a 1 page per year calendar which is a quick view or glance, and they can be found on STEP 2. Choose Calendar/Appointment Keepers.

Whether I prepare academic or physical year calendars I always prepare 12 months in this download.

Additionally, because the calendar begins in January and ends in December, this allows you to begin your school at any time.

Also, whether you homeschool year-round or not, you have a full set of pages.

In addition, because all my premade planners are mix and match my calendars pair beautifully with all my planners.

School Year 2025 Homeschool Planning Schedule Beautiful Form

September 13, 2024 | Leave a Comment
This post may contain affiliate links. For more information, please see my full disclosure policy.

Today I have the 2025 homeschool planning schedule for your Homeschool Planner ready.

The homeschool planning your schedule is not just a calendar.

It is a form to both plan and track your schedule.

Place it in your homeschool planner to give you a framework for the year.

School Year 2025 Homeschool Planning Schedule Beautiful Form

Besides, when you create a well thought out schedule you are more effective in your teaching.

Instead of being rigid, a schedule frees your mind of stress.

First, the 2025 homeschool planning schedule is if you school by the calendar year and not the academic year.

Many years I have started my year with the physical year because it made more sense for our family.

Whenever you start your year, academic or yearly, you’ll love that all 12 months are on one page.

The form begins with January and ends in December. So, if you’re new to homeschooling you can start with this form too.

7 Reasons to Plan Your Homeschool Schedule

Because the word schedule can have negative overtones, I will give you reasons why my schedule breathes life into our routine.

Look at these 7 reasons to have a homeschool planning schedule.

  1. It can serve as a checklist of subjects which are priority for your day.
  2. Communication is enhanced between you and your children. Yes, we can frustrate our children when we don’t have a direction for the day, week, or year.
  3. One of the most basic reasons I plan is to set goals. It helps me to track progress for the day and keeps us focused. We love rabbit trails and take them but also, we need structure to flow for our days.
  4. In addition, I run from stress. Having a schedule keeps me from racing at the last minute to put a plan in place.
  5. And don’t we all love to study just what we love? We do too but we need to cover other subjects less liked. It lets me see I’m not overlooking any areas or subjects that I want covered.
  6. Creating a schedule to meet my children’s learning personality and learning styles. The schedule is more personalized because I have taken time to think how I will present subjects.
  7. Finally, I hate scrambling at the last minute to grab supplies for an activity or project we want to do. Planning ahead of time I’m sure to have all the important items in the house.

Next, look at my sample homeschool schedule, so you know how to get the best benefit from it.

How to Use the Planning Your Homeschool Schedule Form

I have shown you a sample schedule below.

And although my sample shows an academic year calendar for the schedules I make each year beginning July and ending June, it’s the same tips.

School Year 2025 Homeschool Planning Schedule Beautiful Form

Here are some features and sections it has.

  • 12 months on one page so if you school year round, you can still track;
  • is a calendar where highlight weeks you plan to homeschool and mark out weeks you take off;
  • is used to track each day and total weeks by writing down; and

It has a comprehensive key box at the bottom of the form for you to note things like first day of school, holidays, quarters, and goals for days and weeks to homeschool.

Today, we’re making a letter Y handprint craft. Also, look at my page How to Homeschool Preschool for more handprint crafts and preschool ideas.

And we’re featuring a yak, a fun new animal to introduce to your preschooler or kindergartener.

There is just something so precious about those first little handprint crafts with tiny fingers that won’t stay that way for long.

Too, they are so proud of the finished product.

How To Make A Letter Y Handprint Craft Featuring A Yak

My main focus during the preschool years is reading good quality books.

Reading aloud develops imagination, vocabulary, language development, listening skills, comprehension, and helps grow their focus and attention.

I found the absolute cutest story that went right along with our activity and of course “we” had to model our yak after the little hero of the story Gertie.

The book is The Littlest Yak. A cute must read with your littles.

While Gertie is adorable, yaks really are amazing animals that live in the high mountains of the Himalayas. Yaks are very important to the people of the Himalayas

Known for their long, shaggy fur and their big horns, yaks are found in the high mountains of Asia.

What makes them so amazing is that yaks are very strong and can carry incredibly heavy loads.

They are also very gentle and friendly animals.

People in the Himalayas use yaks for many things.

For example, they are used to transport goods, to pull plows, and to provide milk and meat.

Acclaimed, award-winning author Linda Sue Park has placed a young half-Asian girl, Hanna, in a small town in America’s heartland, in 1880. Hanna’s adjustment to her new surroundings, which primarily means negotiating the townspeople’s almost unanimous prejudice against Asians, is at the heart of the story.

One Grain of Rice: A Mathematical Folktale

Long ago in India, there lived a raja who believed that he was wise and fair. But every year he kept nearly all of the people's rice for himself. Then when famine came, the raja refused to share the rice, and the people went hungry. Then a village girl named Rani devises a clever plan. She does a good deed for the raja, and in return the raja lets her choose her reward. Rani asks for just one grain of rice, doubled every day for thirty days. Through the surprising power of doubling, one grain of rice grows into more than one billion grains of rice - and Rani teaches the raja a lesson about what it truly means to be wise and fair.Demi's exquisitely detailed art, inspired by traditional Indian miniature paintings, combine with her simple retelling to convey the heart and wisdom of this satisfying mathematical tale.

The Littlest Yak

A little yak yearns for BIG things in this rollicking, rhyming picture book that celebrates individuality, unique talents, and the importance of not growing up too fast.Gertie is the littlest yak in her pack, feeling stuck in her smallness. She wants to grow up and have BIGNESS and TALLNESS, with the hugest of hooves and humongous horns too! Because there isn't anything a BIG yak can't do.So Gertie devises a growing-up plan. She eats her veggies, exercises every day, and reads lots of books. Still, she isn't any bigger. But when the other yaks come calling for Gertie to help them with a daring and dangerous task, could it be because it's something only a small yak can do?

Then look at some fun facts about yaks to share with your children.

5 Yak Fun Facts

  1. Yak poop doesn’t stink-when they have water and are able to forage to eat, their dung has little to no odor. The Tibetan plateaus don’t have trees, so yak dung is the only easily obtainable fuel.
  2. Yaks have two layers of fur to keep them warm in the high altitude cold mountain air of places like China, Nepal, Mongolia, and Tibet. See if you can find these places on a map or globe.
  3. They have a long social life in the wild and can live for up to 20 years with their herds.
  4. Yaks are herbivores, which means that they eat plants like low lying grasses and shrubs.
