The BEST Homeschool Lesson Planning Pages to Choose THIS Year

August 17, 2016 | Leave a Comment
This post may contain affiliate links. For more information, please see my full disclosure policy.

How to choose the best homeschool lesson planning pages is not always easy. Also, look at my page Homeschool Planner and 7 Step Curriculum Planner for more homeschool planning pages.

Through the years the needs of my children and myself have changed; I’ve created homeschool pages to meet those needs.

Your needs change each year too and so should your planner.

That was was/is my absolute driving inspiration as I build my 7 Step Free Homeschool Planner. And it’s also why I share it with you.

Today, I want to share some tips of how to choose the best homeschool lesson planning pages each year so that you make a great fit.

After all, the right tool can make the difference between a useful or completely useless tool.

Your needs change each year too and so should your homeschool planner, which was/is my absolute and driving inspiration as I build my 7 Step Free Homeschool Planner. And it's also why I share it with you. Click here!

And of course, the best way I learned the difference between lesson pages is to compare them.

I rounded up my forms and put them here for you to compare.

Look at these homeschool pages I have created and used at one point one or another and my explanation a my homeschool journey has unfolded.

I am hoping it will help you to decide which lesson planning page you need this.

One// Timeless, classic and working hard!

You can find my timeless original lesson planning here.

Traditional Lesson Planning @ Tina's Dynamic Homeschool Plus

This is the best working horse of my homeschool lesson planning pages and the one I used for many years while the kids were young.

It is what I call my original lesson planning page because it was a breakthrough from the traditional ones I thought I was forced to buy.

Look at how I created it:

  • to be a daily (NOT A WEEKLY) workhorse because I needed room to write.
  • to use with 3 or more kids. Remember that unless you have 4 high school kids, not all of your kids do the same amount of workload. So add a line at the bottom and divide the bottom area for space for your younger kids who do not have as much of an academic load to jot down.
  • because it is not a weekly glance, the planner is thinner when you utilize front/back printing.
  • to write down content subjects at the bottom because content subjects don’t have to be done every day and you want to teach your kids together.
  • also it is NOT dated. You fill in as you school. No erasing or no feeling that you get behind with a dated planner.

Two// Flexible, beautiful AND colorful.

You can find this Glammed Up Option here.

180 Lesson Plan Page @ Tina's Dynamic Homeschool Plus

Then when I realized I would be using this for many years, I decided to do a Glammed Up option because I love pretty planners.

Besides when I look at something year after year, it has to be bright, cheery AND a workhorse.

Homeschool Unit Study Lesson Planning @ Tina's Dynamic Homeschool Plus

You can find this lesson planning page as part of my Ultimate Unit Study Planner.

Three// Whoa girlfriend! Relax. You got this!

Then as I ventured out and started creating my own lesson plans and relaxed, I realized I had other needs then. So I created this next lesson planning page.

Look at how I created it.

  • Weekly spread with room for fewer notes since I wanted to relax a bit.
  • But, I added the subject boxes to the right so that I could keep myself accountable and to see that I was doing more school than I realized and which activities fell into which school subjects. I also maintained a way to check boxes at the top to see where we were at during the year as far as weeks, days and quarters, etc.
  • Also, I made this so it could be used with multiple ages and where I could divide the lesson plans by ages NOT the kids. This allowed me to pick from lower grade lesson plans and higher grade lesson plans.
  • I think this works great with a more relaxed approach and even with unschooling because it gives you a place to jot notes and then check subject boxes that match those notes.

You can find this lesson planning page as part of my Ultimate Unit Study Planner.

High School Planning @ Tina's Dynamic Homeschool Plus

Click here to download the free High School Planning page.

Four// Oh heck, high school. Yikes!

Then as life would have it, can you believed we finally reached high school planning? Then I had to start high school planning.

The beauty of this form is that you can print it alongside any of the other forms for the other grades your children are in.

So you can pick and choose one of the above AND this one.

Too, I used my free Student Planners at this point too.

This helps you to balance some of the planning when your teen is involved.

Extremely flexible homeschool lesson planning @ Tina's Dynamic Homeschool Plus

You can find this page as part of my Ultimate Unit Study Planner.

Having experienced many seasons of homeschooling, I am now down to homeschooling one child.

My needs again have changed and this is the next page that I have been using.

Look at how I created it.

  • This is a monthly glance for a more relaxed view on lesson planning.
  • I love it because you can write notes for one child or multiple.
  • It has one line per day for emphasis more on journaling than detailed lesson plans for each homeschool day.
  • It includes a space for the weekend especially when you need this for a state where you are tracking hours or it’s good for a high school child where you want to track credits.
  • It would also work well for unschooling or relaxed school where you don’t need as much room for detailed lessons plans
  • It still has a place for objectives and it has a place to write in the week instead of Lesson 1, Lesson, 2 and etc.

I hope the fine and subtle differences between these pages will help you to choose one or more which will work for you instead of you conforming to a system that isn’t working for you.

Which stage are you at?

Remember too, that you can mix and match pages too. SO worth creating your own UNIQUE planner with my pages here.

Homeschool Quarter Planning Form – Free UNIQUE 7 Step Planner

August 10, 2016 | 11 Comments
This post may contain affiliate links. For more information, please see my full disclosure policy.

Today, i have free homeschool quarter planning forms. Grab other gorgeous planning pages on my Homeschool Planner page.

You know I’ve said before, it takes me sometimes several months thinking about a homeschool form for the 7 Step Homeschool Planner before I actually release it to you.

The reason why is because my forms are created out of need as I go throughout my many years of homeschooling.

Homeschool Quarter Planning Form - Build Your UNIQUE 7 Step Planner @ Tina's Dynamic Homeschool Plus

4 Homeschool Quarter Planning Forms

This one, the homeschool quarter planning form, I actually have been thinking about for a year. And I am so OVER THE TOP excited to share it with you today!

Let me tell you first how I set it up, how I will be using it this year and why I needed it last year too.

How to Use the Homeschool Quarter Planning Form - Build Your UNIQUE 7 Step Planner @ Tina's Dynamic Homeschool Plus

Look at how I created this newest from.

  • It’s divided into 4 quarters or 4 pages with three month calendars on each page.
  • It has a box at the top right to pen in whether you follow an academic or a physical year calendar.
  • So that the calendars can be used over and over, pen in the day of week so your calendar is current year ready. Note: (Not that you would do this, but remember the first of the month doesn’t always begin on Monday or Sunday. I know you know that, but you’d be surprised how giddy you can get when filling in a new form.)
  • Because you can choose when to begin your homeschool year, you determine which months are your first quarter, your second quarter and etc. Just put an X, highlight the quarter or place a check at the top right section. I love the flexibility of determining which months are which quarters.
  • On the calendar highlight or circle the dates you want to reach certain objectives, goals or projects and
  • then use the lined box to the right of the calendar to write down your thoughts, plans or objectives.
  • At the bottom of the page or the end of the quarter is a place for evaluation.

Homeschool Quarter Planning Forms

Though I have two other objectives form which are kept on Step 3. Choose Goals/Objectives I ran into small problems that set me back when planning with broad strokes.

Because this is my third high school teen, I know that our year needs to not only be varied, but focused.

Dividing the quarter planning forms up, I can focus on one or more skills or subjects for a specified period of time.

The other months I don’t have to plan so detailed. These new forms can use them in a variety of ways.

  • One or more can be used when you need to plan for a short term or three months.
  • If you have a high school teen, you may need to plan all of the quarters more precisely.
  • If you have an older child, but the rest of your children are younger, this allows you to plan for your oldest child in a more detailed way.
  • If you want to plan with fine details for all of your children, no matter their age, each form allows you a place to write down your plan.
  • The best part is that you can print off as many as you need. You can print one for each child, one quarter for all your children or print all of them for your children.

I have just started putting together my planner and will be not binding it for a while yet because I am still undecided about some things I want in it, but this is not one of them.

Ultimate Homeschool Unit Study Planner – Which Lesson Planning Pages to Use?

March 20, 2016 | 6 Comments
This post may contain affiliate links. For more information, please see my full disclosure policy.

Ultimate Homeschool Unit Study Planner - Comparing Two Different Lesson Planning Pages @ Tinas Dynamic Homeschool Plus

I am excited today about sharing an update to the Ultimate Unit Study Planner and about explaining how best to use the different types of lesson planning pages that are included in it.

There is a reason it is the Ultimate Unit Study Planner because your homeschool journey changes each year and so should your planner.

New Beautiful Unit Study Planning 2 Page Spread

First, look at the new lesson planning page below, which has been added to the other two that were already included in the unit study planner.

Tracking Monthly Lesson Plans 1

Like I mentioned, your planner needs to change and be flexible. That is why this new lesson planning page was created.

For example, when I first started doing unit studies I was using the multiple level planning pages below (more on that in a minute) because I had multiple ages.

Now, I am down to homeschooling one and I see a very different need.

Look at some of the reasons why you would use this newest lesson planning.

  • You have an only now and don’t need as much room to write.
  • Each day has two lines so that you can jot down for one child.
  • Also, I see this lesson planning page mixed with the other detailed one I already have if you want to use it for an older child. Tip: Print off some of the original lesson plannings pages and mix with this one.
  • Also, I have the need again to track activities on the weekend because Tiny is doing high school level work now.
  • The weekend notes would also work for those states that have stricter record keeping and where every bit of learning, including weekend activities, needs to be tracked.
  • Because it only has two lines per day, there is a useful Note section on the far left to jot down whatever you need to track for the week. For me, I will be adding my objectives, lists of supplies for our unit study and books among other things in the note section.
  • In addition, this lesson planning page can be substituted in the free student planner for an older child.
  • If you are using unit studies and adding them to your present curriculum, you may not need as much room to write activities. This is the perfect lesson planning page to add your curriculum planner if you’re gradually adding unit studies.
  • A huge change in this lesson planning page too is that it is a month at a glance. Print off 1 (2 page spread) for each month. Can you say thin planner?
  • Also, this lesson planning page would works for a seasoned veteran, who doesn’t need as many detailed lesson planning notes and just needs a guide now.
  • This works too for those Type B personalities who want to see a few notes or who just need a framework.

As you can see, it is a very versatile lesson planning page that took me months and months to create based on homeschooling my only now and an upper grade child.

Now, look at the other lesson planning page.

4a Lesson Planning Pages subjects filled in @ Tina's Dynamic Homeschool Plus

The original detailed lesson planning page has some very useful advantages that can’t be overlooked either:

  • It is divided into three sections, lower, middle and upper grades.
  • It is for tracking work for multiple ages of children.
  • On the far right, I listed subjects for you to check off as you cover them in a unit study. Most subjects are covered naturally and there is a place for you to do that each day.
  • This is the one I used most when I had multiple children.
  • Too, this lesson planning page is EDITABLE. I actually have two versions. One lesson planning page, I don’t have you guessing which subjects to cover, I add them. The other page, allows you to add in your own subjects because as your children get older, you will have a few kids doing upper grade work and some doing lower level work so it gives you more flexibility.
  • This lesson planning page is better for detailed lesson planning and it is a week at a glance, i.e. more room to write.

You know me and my need to see all this jibberish laid out visually, so I did this quick comparison to show you the obvious differences in the lesson planning pages.

Just remember you get all of them in this planner.

3 Types of Lesson Planning Pages for Unit Study Planner @ Tina's Dynamic Homeschool Plus

I also added a new cover so that brings the color options to 4 for covers. And of course I had to make some matching note and journal pages.

The Ultimate Unit Study Planner is just what you would expect from an ultimate planner, which is to have everything you need in it as your homeschool changes.

Don’t forget:

  • it is also undated, which means you can use it year after year
  • has plenty of room to write on for the detailed lesson planing page
  • has one template that has editable subjects
  • has forms to track objects and assessments
  • has 14 sets of pages to plan a unit study. Not only do you have lesson planning pages, but you get detailed pages to help you plan each unit study.
  • unit study tracking page
  • 80+ pages with printing instructions and sample how to use pages

I hope you like the new lesson planning page added, the new curriculum cover and the new note pages!

You can grab it here and don’t forget as you’re building it to add the many free pages here on my site to it. Look at this post 10 Things to Include in Your Homeschool Planner – Because Paper Planners Rock!! to see some of the pages in my planner.
