Option 2A.
Two-Page Per Month Calendar.
Academic Year. 12 months

Purpose: More room For Tracking Important Dates.

I use classical fonts on the calendar. Too, if I am going to use a calendar for the year, I want a calendar that inspires me each day, i.e. I have to have color.

If you do not track school weeks, {which is real easy record keeping even for states or countries that don’t require it} then use those areas to either write notes, special events for that month or a to-do list.

Tracking weeks that you are in school is the easiest or the very basics of record keeping.

Though I don’t have to do anything here in Texas, I feel it’s important to be accountable because as your children grow and enter high school, it becomes important.

So I went ahead and added a box for that because I want to reflect my experience in my forms which helps you to be better organized.

Hi Tina — did you switch from annual calendars to academic calendars? I checked the file I had downloaded early in 2014 and it was a Jan-Dec 2014 calendar. Now I’m stuck trying to find calendar pages for Jan 2015-whenever your new academic calendar starts. Can you help? Thanks!

      Hey Anne Marie,

Looks like you found it!!! It’s on this same page!

I keep both the academic and physical year on this one page.

Hi Tina. I cannot express to you how much your downloads have helped me. My little girl will be 5 next October so I am going to start our official homeschooling next academic year. Although that’s many months away I have been learning as much as I can and getting all my materials ready and in order before then. I am also doing the 31 Day Boot Camp; I found your site last night so I’m on day 2. I’m so excited for homeschooling, as I’ve always wanted to be a teacher, and resources like what you have created here are absolutely awesome. Thanks for all of your hard work. Do you know when the ’15-’16 academic calendar will be available? I’m looking forward to it 🙂

Oh well my goodness!!! You are JUST VERY VERY welcome Kathleen. And next year will be here before you know it.

GOOD for you. Go through the boot camp, take your time, honestly answer the questions.

If you have a comment or question on the boot camp, post it here and I’ll pop in as soon as I get a free moment.

About the calendar, I almost have the first color option complete, but I am so fussy over the details..lol that sometimes I am my own worst enemy. Can you relate?

It will be up REAL soon, hopefully by next week if all goes as planned. Too, most the time I have my printables out by March or April. So more choices coming then too or you can print after I load the first color choice.

Your choice and SO glad to have you here, welcome Kathleen!

    Hi Tina!
This is the second year that I’m homeschooling and since not much planning was needed for kindergarten, I didn’t feel a need for an official planner or planning. But the number of subjects are increasing as my son starts first grade in January and I think a more official organizer is in order. I’d like to get your option 2A as we homeschool from Jan to Dec, but am kind of OCD about having lines in my 2-page monthly calendar spread. Is there any way for me to add lines to it, or will I have to, as feared, resort to making my own lined and fancied calendar in Excel or Word (a tedious task I know how to do, but would rather not lol).

Also, the option 2A doesn’t include a bare-bones weekly planner does it? The set-up I currently use is a .5″ 3-ring binder stuffed with a lined 2-page spread monthly undated calendar (I printed off from somewhere online and then cut and modified on my multifunction printer) busied with nothing else but a notes section-which I don’t use since I have a page for notes following on the reverse of the second calendar page, then followed by a page of weekly planning where I include tasks and goals for the month (again printed off from online somewhere and modified with our handy printer) with that week’s menu planner on the backside.

We live in rural central Texas and don’t keep attendance records and such for homeschooling. I’m not keeping grades either, but do score/grade spelling tests or other finals as mere learning/retention indicators. Next year I will add to our planning binder our church’s Building Christian Character curriculum for all my kids, but that is self-contained/planned/structured and I’ll just add those pages in around the weekly planner pages.

With only one kid in official school so far (and two randomly working in their Rod & Staff preschool books) our home life and school flow as one. So I guess we actually have more a family planner with school being a part of that family’s life. 🙂

So long email short…I am amazed at all the materials you’ve put together and the creative energy that must’ve gone into such a project and would hate to find such a treasure and not be able to utilize it (especially since it’s on the rather stylish side of things 😉 for my own purposes and family’s needs. Is there a way to purchase and download the calendar and your weekly planner in a format that I’d be able to strip it down to the essentials that my family needs and add lines for my sanity’s sake (obviously original software program source transferring across/compatibility issues with my resources/software owned and such being a possible limitation)?

Tons of thanks for your burden for this ministry!

      Hi Noemi,

Glad to have you here and it sounds like you have though things through.

Let me help explain some more about the forms or each step, so you can make a decision that works for you.

First, as your child grows, the subjects will only increase. Knowing this from experience, there is no way (even on a calendar) that all subject assignments will fit. MAYBE if you jot down a word or two, but it never worked for me because I like things more descriptive. I am thinking you would like the extra room too.

So the forms on this page, included OPTION 2A are NOT for planning! They are just for appointments. In otherwords, I didn’t “fight it” meaning I used calendars like calendars. :o)
The pages here on STEP 2 are *just calendars*. Calendars are VERY different than the set up one needs for “planning”.

By separating the two ideas, this I find is more organized. Why? Well it gives you room to lesson plan on lesson planning pages and not small squares for calendars that are made for jotting down an appointment or two. The calendars on this page are for “reference purposes” Also, I have tried adding assignments into small calendar square pages and it has never worked.

Sharing my experiences of trial and error, I separated the two notions (planning and appointments).

The pages on STEP 4, which are Planning Pages HAVE lines for you because this is just what I needed too.

      https://tinasdynamichomeschoolplus.com/free-printables/7-step-curriculum-planner/step-4-choose-lesson-planning-pages/

You may find that for first grade and one child, that small boxes may work for you, but I promise it won’t last long. I tried to do it when Mr. Senior 2013 was in first grade. But that didn’t last long because along came the next two kids and that notion went out real quick.

Long story short, I have carefully crafted each section so that it works for you not just one year, but throughout your whole journey.

I don’t create forms just to sell but because I want them to work for you AND be smokin’ hot.

Don’t buy it if you want to the use the calendar page to plan because I think that would be too much work for you. Again, though for this year, you may like that.

Again, those are two separate notions and I have made EACH step to help you figure that out .

You are so welcome for the printables, they come from many, many years of “doing that” and not working.

So I am hoping to save others some grief and keep it “stylish” too. Have to have attitude when homeschooling..lol

I hope I explained the two VERY different steps for you and so glad to have you and your family here!!!

      Hugs
