RESPIRATORY SYSTEM FUN FACTS
- Bringing in oxygen (O₂) and remove carbon dioxide (CO₂) is the respiratory system’s main job to exchange gases.
- Did you know your lungs are not the same size? The left lung is a bit smaller to make space for your heart.
- You start by breathing in through your nose or mouth. Your nose even helps warm and clean the air.
- Then the air travels down your throat (pharynx) and passes through the voice box (larynx).
- Next the air then moves into the trachea, also called your windpipe.
- The diaphragm is the main muscle involved in breathing.
