2015 Year Around Homeschool Planning Schedule

Yikes! I have been in a panic mode since it has been full speed ahead for moving out of our home. So knowing that I will be traveling soon, I went ahead and prepared the 2015 Year Around Homeschool Planning Schedule form.

Remember this is NOT a calendar. Okay, well it is, but it isn’t. Just calendars are kept on STEP 2. Choose Calendars/Appointment Keepers.

This is a planning form. There is a fine difference. A calendar is for a reference and a planning schedule is for planning school noting important things that come up in your life which will affect your school.

Since year around homeschooling is an option and it is about planning too, these types of forms are kept on STEP 5a. Choose Unique forms JUST for You!

Forms on Step 2, which are calendars, are a must-have for your planner but the forms on Step 5 are option forms. This fine difference between the two steps or calendars helps you to stay organized as I always want you to have control over how you put your planner together.

Also, just to remind you of the uses of this form because I have new faces following me, look at these options:

This form works for you if you live in a country where your school year begins with the physical year.
This forms works for you if you prefer to follow the physical year instead of the school year. By the way, I did this for many years and I loved it. I wouldn’t have all the school hype for changing grade levels during a busy time and it seemed prices were cheaper too on some curriculum during mid-winterish.
This forms works for you if pull your children out mid-school year and want to start planning.

Updated Homeschool Attendance Forms

Thank You! I have said it before that the best ideas for updating forms come from you because like me, you want to make them flexible enough for your family too.

Today, I have two updated homeschool attendance forms and I am so excited about them. I have been wanting to add a bit more flexibility to them but I like to take my time when I update my curriculum planner forms because I want them to work for more than just a few homeschoolers too.

I want to Thank Kathy for this comment because as soon as I had time, I updated the attendance form.

I LOVE your sheets and ideas. I’ve been following you for two years now.

I noticed in Leeanna’s comment she starts her tracking in May for Ga. The group I’m with in SC starts in June. I was wondering would it be possible to have an attendance chart in the trimesters with blank months. That way we can put down what works for our needs.
In addition, have some extra room for other letter codes ~ ie : The S = sick, H = Holiday, F = Field Trip area.
We don’t have music day, art day, it blends into our days. I had to white out those things and fill in what we did. V = volunteering, L= Lab, T = Latin, and such.
It may help others in the future.

Below I created a new graphic explaining the two options and it will eventually be going on the STEP 5 Unique Forms page.

Of course, my love for color has grown since my original Attendance Forms and those forms were in need of some color luv. The Attendance Forms were some of my first forms where I started adding a bit of color not knowing if you would like it or not. I had just started to move away from creating only black and white copies.

I now know you love all the color collages as much as I do.

Here are a few details about the updated forms:

I have 2 options.
Both forms have a place for 4 children. It is not that I have a fondness for the number four (tee hee hee) but that number of columns fits nicely on one page.
Both forms have an expanded Key Area. I added a few more codes too AND I created a few blank lines for codes that may be unique for your family and that you need to track. You just write them in each year.
To allow room for the extra key code area because I was already at the bottom of the page, both forms had to be bumped up a bit. It doesn’t affect binding or anything, I just wanted you to know that height wise it will be a bit taller than the rest of the forms in your planner. I know, a small detail but those things matter when I create forms.
The biggest difference between the forms is that one has a blank area to fill in the month you begin school AND to fill in your semesters. This allows for a lot more flexibility whether you begin tracking in May, June or July. The other form follows all the rest of the forms on my 7 Step Homeschool Planner, which run from July to June (academic year) and allow for year around homeschooling. On this form, the semesters are already filled in too.

This one above you add in the months when you begin to homeschool and write in the semesters.

This form matches the rest of my forms that begin on July and go through June for year around homeschooling and it has the months and semesters filled in already.

Back To Homeschool Student Notebook Covers

I have some free back to homeschool student notebook covers today. Also, look at my page The Dynamics of How to Homeschool Easily and Smarter for more fun ideas and tips.

Don’t panic, it’s not quite back to school yet.

However, I was panicked excited when I created my back to homeschool student notebook covers last year.

Last year was the first inkling I had that we might move overseas. And knowing my fixation with having an organized space, which includes student binder covers, I created a set of science notebook covers back then.

Who knows what options I will find overseas for student notebook covers, right?

Then, I created history notebook covers too.

Though I had shared my science notebook covers with a few of you back then when my blog was new, I didn’t share my history covers.

Homeschool Student Notebook Covers

Too because I like all forms of back up plans for my learning area, I have slowly been creating printables for my school area when I have one again.

Also you know my aversion to matchy matchy sets of things and my need for a variety of color choices in any printable I do.

So I have created covers for two subjects (history and science) but they are in a variety of colors.

Five color choices with six spine inserts too for both subjects.

Mix and match the covers for each of your kids with the spine inserts.

Plus, I already have an idea for a style of cover for the other school subjects, which is completely different than the style I am sharing today.

This is a jump start to having covers for our school subject binders and I thought you might like them too.

It just feels good knowing that I am doing something to be somewhat prepared for the new school year even if I won’t have a learning space just yet.

7 Step Homeschool Planner Back Cover

It has been crazy good around here because we had another two showings on our house yesterday. Though I am excited, we are hopping busy because of the showings. I forgot just how exhausting it is to show your house.

Though we ask for 24 hours notice before a buyer wants to see our house, you know it doesn’t always happen like that.

Because we haven’t been able to do school lately with all the house showings, I decided to use the time as a chance to feed my font fetish fever (say that 3 times) and create a new form.

Making a tiny confession here, do you know that planning the creative part to my 7 Step Homeschool Planner forms is something I just can’t do? As much as I thrive in planning and plan most things, the creation part of making my forms is not one of them. I keep a running list of ideas, but not the way I want the form to look.

I don’t want to sound corny but I haven’t really told you how I feel when I create and design my forms. I think it’s the same intoxicating way people feel when they can run their hand through dirt to plant, or take an art brush to a blank canvas or that euphoric high after a workout.

Maybe it’s because I love constant change in my planner each year too. I don’t know, but I do know that after creating each form as I am inspired, sharing it with you is just another sweet high.

Enough of that deep talk. I can’t take that too often or maybe I am sheer exhausted from all the house showings.

Too, you know my fondness for inspirational words and quotes because they keep me fired-up about homeschooling. I used some words and fonts that I have been pining over lately to create this newest back cover. Remember, it’s your choice if you want to use the back cover for a front cover, middle insert to your planner or wherever. I am just letting you know how I designed it.

School Year Goals Form – 7 Step Homeschool Planner

Zoom, zoom and the plan I had at the beginning of the year to tweak my goal sheet to make it a school year goals form quickly passed. I still had it on my to do list and I finally got to it.

I hope you don’t mind if I squeeze in a few more forms for our planner before the school year.

When it gets to be June, I start hyperventilating dreaming of what I want to put in the planner for next year.

I updated the form I did at the beginning of the year just a bit to make it fit for a school year and also because I needed a form for more general planning goals.

School Year Goals

Sometimes, I have more broad goals and not something that fits into exact educational objectives. I just like having the options each year. You know how I feel about that.

Too, sometimes I know, for me anyway, I tend to write down all that I want to do and have few reminders of what not to do for the year. So the section I call “less of this” is just as important to me as I want to keep setting realistic goals each year.

This year though I am in a quandary about when to bind my planner. On the one hand I don’t need another thing to pack and haul when we move. Plus, I am not sure what kind of shape the planner would be in when we finally find us a new place. But, then I get nervous thinking if there will even be a place to bind my planner if I wait to do it overseas.

I guess there could be more complex problems in moving overseas than finding a place to bind a curriculum planner, but I can’t think of any.
