SYNOPSIS OF A FABUMOUSE VACATION FOR GERONIMO STILTON
In A Fabumouse Vacation for Geronimo Stilton, Geronimo looks forward to taking a break from work and enjoying some much-needed rest.
Instead of a peaceful vacation, he encounters a series of surprises and mishaps that turn his trip into another exciting adventure.
Throughout the story, Geronimo faces challenges, meets interesting characters, and discovers that sometimes the best memories come from the unexpected moments. It is fun for your child to follow along as he navigates travel troubles and learns valuable lessons about flexibility, friendship, and making the most of every situation.
Use the book as a springboard for discussions about travel, geography, problem-solving, and character development. It is an entertaining read that combines fun with valuable learning opportunities.
As you know, I am a big fan of the series; it is filled with humor, colorful illustrations, and creative typography that make it especially engaging for elementary-aged readers. The story encourages children to see travel as an opportunity for discovery and reminds us that adventures can happen anywhere.

Whether you are taking a road trip, flying to a destination, or spending long hours waiting in airports, keeping children entertained can make travel much more enjoyable.
Packing a variety of activities helps prevent boredom and keeps kids engaged throughout the journey.
So, before we get to the DIY travel game, I have some suggestions to keep the kids busy and enjoying the trip.
WHAT TO PACK IN A TRAVEL ACTIVITY BAG
Maps, scavenger hunts, flashcards, word puzzles, and travel bingo games can turn travel time into learning time. Children can practice observation skills while exploring new places.
- Books and Reading Materials- Books are among the easiest and most educational travel activities. Pack a favorite chapter book, graphic novel, or audiobook. Reading during travel helps pass the time while encouraging literacy skills.
- Coloring and Drawing Supplies- A small notebook, coloring book, crayons, colored pencils, or washable markers provide hours of creative entertainment. Drawing vacation memories can also become a fun keepsake after the trip.
- Travel Games- Compact games are perfect for on-the-go fun. Card games, travel-sized board games, and simple pencil-and-paper games require little space while providing lots of entertainment.
- Activity Books- Maze books, word searches, crossword puzzles, and sticker activity books are excellent options for independent play. Many children enjoy the challenge of solving puzzles while traveling.
Just as Geronimo Stilton always finds clever ways to solve problems during his travels, our reusable acrylic dry-erase game board helped keep boredom away during long car rides and waiting times
EASY DIY DRY-ERASE TRAVEL GAME
One of our favorite travel activities is a homemade dry-erase travel game board. This simple project is inexpensive, reusable, and easy to customize for different ages.
You will need:
- Acrylic sheet or clear acrylic board
- Dry-erase markers
- Permanent marker
- Ruler

First, decide what games you want to put on the board. For my 8×10 board, I think that 4 different activities are perfect. But since this project is so easy and inexpensive, you can make a couple and offer more variety.
Some things you can put on your board are…
- Tic-Tac-Toe
- Hangman
- Dots and Boxes
- Travel Bingo
- Word Search Challenges
- I Spy
- Categories
- Drawing Prompts
- Connect the Dots
On one side, begin drawing your games/activities with a sharpie marker. I used a ruler to create tic-tac-toe lines,

And a ruler to make (mostly) straight dots for the dots and boxes game.

Then I did a quick freehand of a hangman stand, leaving room for the word and guesses as well as a head for drawing faces.

Allow the Sharpie to dry completely. This will be the back of the board, and your child will flip it and use dry-erase markers on the opposite side.

If you wanted to include letters, you could print out words and tape them to the drawing side and then trace over them so that when the board is flipped back over, they are going in the right direction.
Now all you need to pack along with the board are a couple of dry-erase markers and a scrap of cloth for erasing.
