I get the best jabs from all of you when it comes to starting on a new project for my 7 step homeschool planner.  I have had some homeschool curriculum planner covers in what I call my brainstorming file that I wanted to make editable.  I wanted you to be able to make your planners even more personable by being able to type in your family name.

Editable Homeschool Curriculum Planner Cover

However, those covers have stayed just in my brainstorming file until today.  Because I want you to have the hottest planner ever I struggle often with planner perfection.  Thanks to Tania who emailed me and got me excited about that idea again.  I know too that when I use beautiful classic paid fonts on the design part of the cover, you have to use default fonts on your computer when a document is editable.

Being able to resolve in my mind 1) that you don’t mind downloading a free font and 2) that I can find a free font that pairs well with my paid fonts, I decided to go ahead and start with my first cover that has a place to type in your family name.

I have done all the work for you by choosing a free font that pairs with the paid fonts that I have on the cover.  You just need to be sure you know how to install fonts on your computer.  If you do not install the font I use on the document, a default font on your computer will be used and it could affect the way the cover looks. Important: This first cover has a box big enough for 9 characters. My last name is long so I used it for a sample.  If your last name is longer than 9 characters, please know that I will be creating more editable covers.

Too, this cover is undated, which is another nice feature for you.

Coral Inklings

Here is the first cover above and I have named it “Coral Inklings”.

The picture above is how it looks when you type in your family name.

Like I mentioned, there will be several cover choices coming! I can’t say when because I don’t create like that.  If you have been following me for a while, you know I have many luvs and curriculum planners is just one.  My inspiration comes at different times throughout the year.

Guess what? You can grab this latest cover for just $1.50.

School Year Goals Form – 7 Step Homeschool Planner

June 3, 2014 | 6 Comments
This post may contain affiliate links. For more information, please see my full disclosure policy.

Zoom, zoom and the plan I had at the beginning of the year to tweak my goal sheet to make it a school year goals form quickly passed.  I still had it on my to do list and I finally got to it.

I hope you don’t mind if I squeeze in a few more forms for our planner before the school year.

When it gets to be June, I start hyperventilating dreaming of what I want to put in the planner for next year.

school year goals

I updated the form I did at the beginning of the year just a bit to make it fit for a school year and also because I needed a form for more general planning goals.

School Year Goals

Sometimes, I have more broad goals and not something that fits into exact educational objectives.  I just like having the options each year.  You know how I feel about that.

Too, sometimes I know, for me anyway, I tend to write down all that I want to do and have few reminders of what not to do for the year.  So the section I call “less of this” is just as important to me as I want to keep setting realistic goals each year.

This year though I am in a quandary about when to bind my planner.  On the one hand I don’t need another thing to pack and haul when we move.  Plus, I am not sure what kind of shape the planner would be in when we finally find us a new place.  But, then I get nervous thinking if there will even be a place to bind my planner if I wait to do it overseas.

I guess there could be more complex problems in moving overseas than finding a place to bind a curriculum planner, but I can’t think of any.

Enjoy the new form.

Hugs and love ya,

Homeschool Co-op Tracking Form–7 Step DIY Homeschool Planner

May 25, 2014 | 3 Comments

Back when I did my 5 day series of a homeschooling co-op convert, I had written down some ideas for a homeschool co-op tracking form I wanted to create.  It joined my ever growing list of forms to create “soon”.

I have to admit to you that I don’t know why I am so hard on myself when it comes to crafting my forms, but I am.  I linger over every font, every color, every layout, every space, every font, every color, okay—you get the idea.  Sometimes I fuss so much over it that it can be stifling to get started on them because I have all the details whirling around in my head and want them to look just perfect so on paper.

Homeschool Co-op Tracking Form

Too, I always want my forms to cover a multiple range of possibilities and this form is no different.  When attending our homeschool co-op, I mull over many scenarios and details and then finally put it all down on paper.

Homeschool Co-op Tracking Form

It gets harder for me to decide which form to fuss over create first and focus on because I want them all right now.  So when I hear from you (like Haley who emailed me) and needed one now, I just love moving one form like the homeschool co-op tracking form to the top of the list when I can.  I am so excited today to show you the first form for using in your homeschool co-op.

Because a form can either plan or track, there is a difference you know, I have created the tracking form first because I think that a majority of you can use it this next year.

This is a tracking form which means you are recording or tracking what your children have covered or will be doing in a co-op.  Noting what they have learned, what they need to bring to the next class and generally putting down any details that you may want to remember would go on this form.  A planning form is totally different from this tracking form because that is something a homeschool co-op leader would use to plan for a co-op.

Look below at my picture as I explain the many uses of this one tracking form and about each section in a little more detail.

Homeschool Co-op Tracking Form

About the time period section.  Instead of using “July to June” which I use for most of my year round forms, I left the time period blank because homeschool co-op are all very different as to when they begin and end.

Your children may attend a co-op once a week, once a month or multiple times a week.  The time period “From____ to ____” is much more flexible and allows you to track the time period by months, semesters or weeks.

The page also has 8 boxes or sections on it which is enough either for a 7 day week or for about 2 months if attendance is monthly.

About 8 sections for the 7 day week.  Some homeschool co-op activities flow into the weekend even if your child attends only 5 days a week.  Especially at the high school level or when you are in a state or country where you need to track all the activities your children are doing, the 8 sections allows a place to jot down what they have covered during the 5 day week and as they do activities that flow into the 2 day weekend.

If you need to track actual hours, the box is big enough to pencil the time in too.  I am still on the fence about adding a box within the notes section for actual hours, but I know not everybody tracks that exacting.  Again, it’s big enough though if you do need to track that way.

About 8 sections for monthly co-ops.  Our co-op met monthly so I would use one sections to track each monthly meet up.  So one page would be enough for me to get about 2 months on it.

About Name{s} section.  I even left the name section very vague instead of putting “Student’s Name” on that part.  If all of your children attend the co-op, you may want to put their names in that box or in my case, our co-op had a name so I would put the co-op name in that area.  There was a time when we were attending parts of two co-ops also.  So I would have two forms going in my planner for that scenario, with the name of the co-op on each one.

Too, you can use one form per child and put each child’s name in that section and this is especially helpful if you have a teen in high school.  It allows you a way to track just his or her activities when you need a bit more record keeping for a young adult.  Sometimes each child is going to a different co-op and you may need one form per child.  Too, it may just be your preference that each child has his own form.

Like all my forms, you decide which forms to print and how many instead of me deciding for you by throwing one huge curriculum planner at one which is never my style.

About the date/s section.  As you can see from the sample above, it also is very flexible allowing you to fill it in and check each day for the week or just use it for one time a week.

All of these scenarios I keep in my head and too I only make forms to share with you of things I would love using.  So though it may take me a bit longer to construct each one, I am happier when I take time to stress over mind the details.

I am so over the top excited with the newest form and hope you like it too.  I hope the hardest part for you will be deciding how many to print.

When do you bind your planner?  I know some of you get anxious excited and bind it early, but I always do mine in late June because it gives me time to think about exactly what I want in my planner for the year.

2015 Physical Year Calendar –2 Pages Per Month At A Glance

[wp_eStore_cart_fancy1_when_not_empty]

Getting started earlier this year with my curriculum planner pages, I am tickled to be able to offer the first option for the 2015 Physical Year Calendar – 2 Pages Per Month at a Glance Appointment Keepers.  I know this is one wonky long name, but it really helps to describe how best to use it.

It’s a calendar, right? How else do you use it?  Well something like that except with it being a 2 page spread, it gives you a ton more room to write.  Too, the month of January {whether it’s my academic calendars or physical year calendars} has a special box on that page only so that you note when you begin to school and when you end your school year.

2 Page Month At A Glance 2015 Physical Year Calendar Dreaming Collage

You know me and my name calling.  I called this set of calendar pages Dreaming.

I also have a bigger picture below so you can see what one 2 page spread looks like.  I need to see big pictures because I am such a visual person.

2015 - 2 pages per month Dreaming 4

{Dreaming}

Each month has a different color for the month name and on the note section, I kept the background white and bright this time.  I did add another section to this year and that is the top right section, which is a task list.

Separating that from the bottom section which is more of a to do list for the month, it helps to divide priorities.  I tend to keep a running lists for tasks whether they are due that month or not.  And my to do for the month at the bottom is just that, things that need to get done by that particular month.  I think the reason I put that list at the bottom is that I am hoping it will go away too. {ha ha}

Whether you want to add an academic school year that runs from July to June {find them here on STEP 2. Option 2} or this physical year calendar for 2015 or you’re obsessed going to use both like me, you decide what works for your unique planner.

This past year I started using two calendars and I think I liked it.  I used one for things I wanted to fill in about our school day {academic school calendar} or my thoughts about what we did for the day and the other one I used more for family appointments.  You certainly don’t have to do this, but it was nice having two different sets.  I used the academic school year calendar more like a journal and keeping up with what we did, penned in some funny moments, brainstorming and things like that.

I didn’t put appointments on both sets.  I just them on the one I used for our family calendar so I would have one place to look at for appointments.  This may or may not work for you.  Again the planner is your baby to decide what works best for you.  I just like options and trying different combinations each year.

I change too each year depending on my mood, but I really like the way that worked out last year.

Guess what? You can get it now!

Another choice for the 2 page per month at a glance academic calendar for the 2014-2015 school year is ready!  You ask for this color scheme called New Beginnings and I heard ya.  It has five color shades in the notes section before it repeats.  I just wanted to be sure you had a second color choice for this coming school year.  I love this one too.  It is oh so soothing.  I am having a hard time deciding between this one and the Rainbow Notions Calendar. I think I may put them both in my planner.

Guess what? You can get it for only $.99 cents.  Instant Download.

Or, if you like the Rainbow Notions Calendar or both. You decide.
